Exploring Australian & Indonesian Animals
Your job is to create an amazing book exploring two animals -
one from Australia and one from Indonesia.
You’ll need to look at their features, their habitats, their life cycle,
their food chain and how they move.
You’ll need to retell a traditional Aboriginal or Indonesian story about one of them, or you could write your own!
You’ll need to add in information about their interactions with people,
as well as lots of other interesting facts that you discover.
We’ll be on the lookout for if you’re using scientific language too!
And we want to hear all about the similarities and the differences between them which you will do by completing a Venn diagram.
You’ll also need to include hand-drawn diagrams of both, including labels highlighting different parts of them.
And of course, lots of other bright and colourful pictures to make other people want to read your book!
You can choose to either create a book on your laptop,
using a program that we can print out,
or you could choose to make a handwritten one on paper.
Either way, you’ll need to do lots and lots of research and
make sure that this is kept in your portfolio.
Remember to record all of the websites or books
that you use for your bibliography!
And of course you’ll need to make sure that it is
informative, colourful and engaging.
Finally, you’ll need to tick off the items on your checklist and get it signed off by a teacher before you begin your final book!
We’ve included a list of some Australian and Indonesian
animals below, as well as some websites to get you started.
But remember, we expect you to find some websites on your own.
If you would really like to explore a native Australian or Indonesian animal
that is not mentioned, check with one of the teachers first!
