Checking out China with the Four Cs

Mini-Projects

'Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication & Collaboration'

Creativity

Design and build a famous Chinese landmark, structure or building.

Think about The Great Wall of China, The Forbidden City,

the Xian Warriors  or a traditional pagoda or temple.

You could use a program like Tinker CAD or just create a really detailed drawing

and then build it as a diorama or using an online design program.

Think about scale, perspective and detail.

Make sure that you include lots of good information about your landmark…

Creativity

Create some amazing Chinese calligraphy.

You’ll need to research different types of Chinese artwork including colours and techniques.

Then practise, practise and practise!

Finally you’ll create a beautiful final copy to hang on the wall.

You might find inspiration from clothing, festivals, stories and artists.

You’ll also need to explain the meaning of your design and the choices you made...

Communication

Create a travel brochure or advertisement about travelling to Beijing or another area of China,

using Pages or iMovie.

You’ll need to research travel brochures and the content needed for someone travelling to China.

Make sure you make it exciting and informative!

Communication

Retell a traditional Chinese story or folktale using either a program on your laptop,

an app on the iPads or by making a traditional paper scroll or book.

Make sure that you include excellent pictures and that

it is engaging, colourful and fun to read!

Critical Thinking

Research an environmental issue faced by China and

suggest how it can be addressed.

Things to consider are what the problem is, how it happened,

what is currently being done about it,

what could be done about it and what it means for the future.

You could present it in any format you choose…

Critical Thinking

Using Scratch or other coding programs you know,

create an online game that addresses an aspect of Chinese culture,

for example Chinese New Year, Chinese food or places in China...

Collaboration

You can work with another person (but only one other)

and they must be in your home group.

You both must contribute equally…
