Convicts, Colonies & Coin

Final Project

Your mission is to create an outstanding biography about a famous person in Australia in the 1800s.

It could be a famous convict, an Aboriginal leader, a free settler, a miner from the goldfields, a leader of the Eureka Stockade, a poet, an artist, a bushranger, an explorer...

The choice is yours!

You can use any computer program you like such

as iMovie, moovly, eBooks, or another one that

you really want to try out.

(But check with one of the teachers first!)

First you will need to research, research, research!

We’ve included some websites on the main integrated studies page, but we’ll be looking for those

students who go off and find more of their own. There’s lots and lots of info out there,

Make sure you add ‘for kids’ or ‘primary school’ when using a search engine

to find ones that are easier to understand.

All the information that you find about your person will need to be recorded

in your integrated studies book in your own words.

Focus on when and where they were born, their childhood, major events in their life,

their achievements and when and where they died.

Also try and make it interesting - add unusual facts whenever you can!

We've included a link here to some bioraphies online.

Check them out if you're not sure where to start.

Remember, all websites and books that you use need to be included in an e-bibliography at the end of your project. The easiest way to do this is to create a new Word doc and call it e-bib and then cut and paste (command C and then command V) the URL into it. If you’re not sure how to do this, ask!

Next, you’ll need to plan your project in your integrated studies book. Work out what will go where and

make sure that it make sense and that it covers everything that you need to mention.

We’ve attached an electronic checklist here but you should also have a paper one glued into your integrated studies book so that you can tick off the bits as you do them.

Make sure you add lots of pictures to make your biography bright and colourful.

You could also add in some olden-days music to set the mood.

Or you could even dress up as your character and film yourself if you want to.

Be creative and take a chance!

When you are finished, you’ll need to save your finished project on the x-server.

There are three folders set up in the 5/6 section titled ‘CCC Biography’ for each of your home groups.

The due date is 9:00am on Monday, the 13th of April which is

the first day of the the first week of term two.

Make sure your project is completed by then as we’ll be sharing them as a class during that week!

Good luck!
